TWO LADS DROWNED.
FRUITLESS ATTEMPTS AT RESCUE, (P,V Telegraph —Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., Dec. 10: A drowning fatality occurred at Tangemoana, at the mouth of the Rangitikei River, yesterday, the victims being Russell Ernest Burgess, aged 14, and Robert Parker, aged 19, sons of Rongotea farmers. Both were swimming in tlie river when Burgess got into difficultes. Parker went to his assistance, hut sank on reaching him. Another man, Zuppicicli, pluckily plunged in, fully clothed, and succeeded in getting hold of one lad, but he had to disengage himself. Then he made a. second fruitless attempt. The bodies were recovered later.
