FIRST IN ASHBURTON FOR 25 YEARS.
CLUB TO SELL LIQUOR.
(By T-tl-egrapb--Press Association.) ASHBURTON, Dec. 10. After being “dry” for 25 years, Ashburton to-day possesses a bar for the sale of liquor, the Ashburton Club having opened one in consequence- of the changed conditions resulting from the constitution of the Mid-Canterbury electorate. ‘The club has yearly paid an annual fee on its charter, thus keeping it alive in anticipation of “wet” conditions. Members of the club are limited to six hundred.
