Prank Goddard, former British-heavy-weight champion, has quitted the ring and has sailed for America to take up farming. He is 34 years of age. REMARKABLE END TO FIGHT. SYDNEY, Dec. 9. There was a remarkable ending to a vigorous fight between Norman Gillespie, 9.8, Melbourne, and Jack Roberts, 9.7. Newcastle, at the Stadium here last night. Tlie contest was going in favour of Gillespie when in the eighth round a press bell rang. This Gillespie misunderstood for the gong. He was backing to his corner when a vicious blow to the solar plexus dropped him, knocked out. Roberts was declared the winner.
