BANKRUPT ESTATE.
CROSS-EXAMINATION OF A SOLICITOR
For three consecutive hours a Wellington solicitor, Sir Kenneth Douglas, was subject- to a running lire of questions at the adjourned, meeting of creditors in the bankrupt estate of Leslie Johnson, an advertising agent of Upper Hutt. The subject of the examination was largely confined to the financial relations between bankrupt and witness in numerous business ventures. At the conclusion of the meeting the following resolution was carried; “That Sir Kenneth Douglas’s claims as a creditor, whether secured or unsecured, he not admitted until tlie solicitor for the Official Assignee has recommended their admission.” Sir Kenneth, complaining of the heckling, nature of the cross-examina-tion, made a. reservation that all his statements at the meeting were made subject to documentary confirmation.
