COWS AT LARGE.
WANDERING -ON ROADSIDE’.. SECOND OFFENCE ADMITTED Alfred Henry Sorenson, of Ohawe, who had been convicted of a similar offence two weeks previously, pleaded guilty in the Hawera Court to-day to a charge of having a bowed th ree cows? to be at large on Terrace Street, Ohawe, on November., 30. Defendant stated that the cows Iliad been found by the ranger shortly after they liad been taken to drink at a pool on the roadside, and that they had been there only a few minutes while defendant had opne into the house. Tlie. ranger (Mr G. El. Blackwell) said 'the cows were standing by the roadside and not drinking. Apparently they had been on the road for some time. Replying to the rmagiistrate, Mr E. M. Beecbev, who appeared for the County Council:, said that consider-' j able trouble had been experienced j with wandering stock on the roads. Defendant bad been convicted of a similar offence two weeks previously. A fine of £1 was imposed, with costs amounting to a further £1 2s 6d.
