BOY SCOUTS.
WEST COAST JAMBOREE. , Representatives of the various Scout committees and troops in the Wanganui and Taranaki districts met in Stratford last night for the purpose of finalising the arrangements in connection with the West Coast North Island Scout jamboree, which is tq be held in Stratford from January 4 to- 12, writes out Eltham correspondent. Mr Mclnniss, chairman of the Stratford Citizens’ Committee, presided and briefly welcomed the delegates. The following officials were appointed :
Clamp Governor, Major Sandford and Mr Christie, of Wanganui, as deputy; Camp Commandant, D.S.M. N. F. Waite; Camp Adjutant, D.S.M. Minnell; Camp Quartermaster, S.M. Cowie. The full programme for the 12 days' camp, submitted by the special committee, was approved, including the trek to Mount E-'gmont. i It was decided to invite the Palmerston North, Feilding, Taihape, and Marton troops to attend.the jamboree. Special train fares are being arranged by the citizens’ committee, who. have also undertaken to provide for the requirements of the Fiji troop, who are attending. The Wanganui troop is acting as'hosts to the visiting troop: from Fiji with regard to food. The cost of the camp is estimated at 9s for the complete period and a deposit of 5s is being asked for from each unit attending, and | the balance to be paid on arrival into camp on Tuesday, 4th. The quartermaster (Mr Cbwie, of Hawera) -was authorised to procure a supply of straw; and a limited number of ground sheets, but each scout is being asked to.- bring a ground sheet with the other necessary equipment.
