A boy who was charged in the Chi!- j dren’s Court on Saturday with riding a bicycle at night without a light appeared to be proud that he was able to pay his fine of 2s 6d on the spot cash basis, says the “Lyttelton Times.” “I’m afraid you’ll have to go without pocket-money for a while,” .remarked Mr. E. D. Mosley,. S.M., in imposing the fine. “I have a bit saved up,’’ proudly announced the lad. The Magistrate (smilingly): “Had I known that 1. might have made the fine os. That’s right, it’s a good thing to save up for a rainy day.” “I’ll pay it now,” declared the boy, thrusting a hand into 'the depths of a pocket.
