MR IT. G. DICKIE'AT OHANGAI. About twenty-five electors were in attendance at Ohanigai .-'on . Wednesday evening, when a further address was* delivered by Air H. G. Dickie, as the Reform candidate for the Patea) seat. Air J. Anderson presided. .
Air Dickie referred . to. the United Party’s borrowing policy; deteriorated land question; taxation; criticism levelled against the Reform Party’s extravagance and unemployment. At the conclusion of 'his speech Several questions were asked* and* answered.
On. the chairman’s motion, seconded by Air J. Kerrisk, a hearty volte of thanks was accorded the speaker. . ■Subsequently a strong committee was appointed, with Air Garfield Wallace as chairman, to work in the candidate’s interests.
UNITED PARTY CANDIDATE. ADDRESSES ON TUESDAY. Air J. D. Hislop, the United Party candidate for Patea, addressed a gathering of electors at Patea on Tuesday evening, when, despite inclement weather the attendance numbered about 200. The. Mayor (Air P. S._ Finlayson) presided. * . * ' The candidate’s address dealt mainly with the United Party policy, with particular reference t<> Sir Joseph Ward’s borrowing scheme. A number of questions were answered and a vote of thanks, moved' by Air Alessor and seconded by Mr T, Hurley, was carried unanimously. ... - V' . : In the afternoon Air Hislop gave a short address at Ngutuwera, where All* F. Hooker officiated as ; chairman at a meeting of electors. A vote' of thanks was carried on the motion-of Air T. Burke, (seconded by Air Alul’drock. .
