POPPY DAY.
ARMISTICE DAY SALES IN ENGLAND. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Oct. 30. It is anticipated that the immense sum of £520,000 which was raised bystreet sales artificial poppies Armistice Day last year will be exceeded by this years’, collection for woundeel ex-servicemen funds. Poppy Day will be celebrated on Saturday, November 10, but the churches during the Armistice service' on the following clay will be decorated witli sprays of poppies. . Some 32,000,000 poppies have been made by wounded soldiers and sailors, of whom 340 are regularly employed in their manufacture at- Richmond and Edinburgh. These- are being distributed for sale throughout Great Britain, and at 280 centres overseas. The Dominions have their own ex-service associations for the care of the wounded, but outside the Dominions' every British community in the Empire has ordeed .poppies from ‘the London headquarters.
