PERSONAL ITEMS.
At the monthly meeting of the executive, of the Winter Show in Hawera last night, a welcome back after his South African tour was' given to Mr. -B. C. Bennett by the; chairman and members, all of whom expressed' their pleasure in. seeing Mr. Bennett hack once more in Hawera. A former resident of the. Okaiawa. district, Mr. William Harry (Tommy) Dodd, died at Waitara. yesterday. After leaving Okaiawa he went north to Leppertou, mid later moved to Waitara. Mr. Dodd was the pioneer in the motor services between New Plymouth and Waitara.
As an expression of sympathy with the Governor-General in his illness, the following telegram was despatched to-day by the Manawatu A. and P. Association to Captain Boyle, his military secretary: “Sir Douglas McLean and committee desire to convey their sympathy with his Excellency in his illness and wish him a. speedy recovery. They regret that lie is unable to attend the Royal Show.” —Press Association.
