Taranaki Oil Company reports: Gisborne No. 1 well: Drilling •suspended; decided to leave 6-1 inch diameter casino* in well; cause of, the difficulty appears to be gas at high pressure. Gisborne No 2 well: Drilled to 1.775 feet in shale; 10 inch diameter casing to 1752 feet ; running full time from Oct. 29.

A SEAMAN KILLED. WELLINGTON, Oct. 30. Cyril William Nebitt, a sailor on the' warship Dunedin, was knocked down and killed by a, motor lorry at Trentham early this morning. His relatives live in Timaru.
