- EXECUTIVE MEETING. A meeting of the executive committee of the Hawera Amateur Athletic Club' was held last evening, the following members being present: Messrs A. Grant (chairman), L. Matter, L. Hunt, S. Lay, G. Reid, IT. McCabe, and L. Olapham (secretary). ' A letter was recived from the Wanganui Centre endorsing the reinstatement of Messrs Coleman Bros, (walkers). , On account of the first day of the show being on the same date as election day, it was decided to abandon the show night carnival this year. It was also considered that the time was too near to successfully work up the carnival. The programme of the usual summer evening meetings was discussed and it was decided to commence on November 7 and to continue weekly throughout the season. The first meeting will be a post entry one. The following programme is to be submitted at the first meeting: 100 yards, 880 yards, half mile and two mile cycle events, nutting the shot, throwing the javelin, and 100 yards (handicap) for primary school pupils. The following were appointed officials for ‘the weekly meetings: Judges, Messrs A. Grant. G. Reid, A. Barley; field judge, Mr R. Foy; timekeepers, Messrs H. McCabe, G. Hostiok, F. Foden; call steward, Mr P. Linkboru; result steward, Mr It. Lendrum; megaphoni st, Sergt.-Major Stevens ; starter, Mr L. I. Marter; assistant starter, Mr M. R. JonesMr L>. Hunt was appointed delegate to represent the club on the dressing shed committee.
