SCHOOL RUGBY.

SENIOR AND JUNIOR BOYS. POSITIONS OF THE TEAMS. During the past seaison teams, from the lower forms of the Hawera High School, and teams from the Hawera Main, T awliiti and Convent Schools took part in a, Rugby football competition. The aims of .the competition were to enable all boys of me schools to take part in the gamegi; to match boys of yi mi lair physique and age ; generally to help and encourage all boys to take up sport. There are two grades—senior and junior. The competition was organised as follows: High School had in two senior teams and one junior team, whilst Hawera Main had two (senior and two junior teams. Tawihti fielded a senior and a junior team and Convent one senior team. The junior grade team contained boys who were very small and were known as the “Midgets.” Matches, which were commenced on May 31 last, were played every Thursday afternoon, and were very keenly contested. Some very promising boys were noticed, whilst the football amongst the “Midgets” was of a high standard. Masters of the above schools acted, as referees.

At the end of the first round in the senior grade, Hawera Main A team was in the lead with 9 points for championship, whilst High' School A and B teams tied for .second place with 7 points each.
