BAPTIST UNION.
ANXUAL CONFERENCE. The forty-sixth annual conference of the Baptist Union of New Zealand opened in Christchurch to-day and will ontinue till October 15. Over a hundred visiting delegates will be coming to Christchurch from all parts of the Dominion, and will be welcomed on Wednesday, when several addresses will be given. In the evening of the same day the president of the union, Mr. Samuel Barry, of Auckland, will deliver his presidential address. Thursday will be “missionary day,” when a missionary demonstration will be given. “Baptist night” is set down for Friday, October 12, when the Rev. AI. W. P. Lascelles, who has recently returned from the Baptist World’s Congress, will speak on “The, Baptist World Movement,” and the Rev. F. 0. Harry will deliver an address on “John Bunyan.” A musical festival will be a. feature on .Saturday evening, when the combined Baptist choirs of the city, under t,he conductorship of Mr. Victor C. Peters, L.A.8., will render a programme, including selections from leading oratorios. Mr, F. W. Horner is the delegate from the Hawera church.
