At a wharf labourers’ meeting at Fremantle to-day a motion to resume work was dpclaied carried, but was challenged by a large section. The disputes committee is now seeking a way out of the impasse. MANUKA TO BE PAID OFF. LABOUR CONDITIONS AT MELBOURNE UNCERTAIN. WELLINGTON, Oct. 9. The Manuka, which was to have left for Melbourne yesterday, will be paid off here in consequence of the uncertainty of labour conditions in Melbourne. Most of the passengers will go via Sydney on Friday.
