AIR, FORCE USELESS IN WAR, SIR JOHN SALMOND’S REPORT TO AUSTRALIA. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph Copyright.) (Australian Prens Association.) SYDNEY, Oct. 7. “The Australian Air Force is useless for war owing to obsolete machines, the absence of reserve equipment and the low standard of training among operative units,” Sir John Salmond’s report on the force. “Replacement of equipment is overdue.” Recommendations are submitted for the development of the air force, the cost of which will be £1,139.000 per annum, compared with £531,000 at present.
