A large circle of friends in South Taranaki will learn with sincere regret of the sad death of Airs Owen John Dolan, of Palmerston North, which occurred on Sunday at the early age of twenty-eight years. Mrs Dolan, nee Mary Cecelia Carroll, was the eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs L. Carroll, of Hawera, and wa.s married only a year ago. She had lived practically all her life in Hawera and district and was very popular with her many friends. A baby boy was born a week ago and she was progressing well when she contracted measles, and despite all that could be done for her she died yesterday. The funeral will leave the Catholic Church, Hawera at 2 p.m. to-mor-iow (Tuesday).

A very old and highly-esteemed resident of Eltliam in the person of Nicholas Muir passed away yesterday. The late Mr. Muir had resided in Eltham and district for about thirty years and had earned the.respect and esteem of all who knew him. He was always of a generous disposition and cheerful manner. In the early days he engaged in farming, and afterwards became in- * terested in the brick kilns on the Rawhitiroa Road. This did not prove a great success, and the works were closed some years ago. Since then the late Mi\ Muir lived a retired life, and had during the past ten years lived in the home of Mr. W. M. Peacock.
