It is understood that during his recent visit to England, M. Venizelos, the Greek Prime Minister, placed a contract with a London firm, for the reclamation and irrigation of large areas in Thessaly, Epirus and other parts of Greece with the object of converting them into agricultural land. The scheme is designed to benefit 1,800,000 Greeks who have been repatriated from Asia Minor. The survey work will occupy two years and ‘the ultimate cost is estimated at £10,000,000.
