A strike occurred at the Hikurangi min© late) on Tuesday because some miners were delayed owing to the nonreturn of the skips. Ten men were involved. The management was requested fio pay waitings time. This met with an.emphatic refusal and the lest of the miners then walked out and left the mine idle. A deputation from the Miners’ Union .waited on the mine manager yesterday afternoon with a request that in similar eases in the future the men be allowed to come up on top instead of being detained below. It k anticipated the trouble will be of short duration.
