HOSPITAL ADMINISTRATION.
PATEA BOARD. AVOEK OF THE MONTH Members of the Paten Hospital Board present at the ordinary mooting on Tuesday were Afessrs C. R. Honeyfield (chair), W[ AVatson, H. Middleton, R- S. Scown, AV. Back, AV. Johnston, AA'. H. AVatkins. The medical superintendent, Dr. AV. T. Simmons, reported that patients in hospital at July 31 totalled 27, admitted 33, discharged 27, died 1, and remaining at date 32./ Air E. F. Shaw, Eemuera, wrote to say that so soon as the hoard was ready to go on with the erection of the children’s ward he would remit ait [once the £2300 from the Hunter Shaw Estate, one condition being that the ward should contain oho spacious sun.porch or balcony. The chairman reported that Dr. Valentine, Inspector-General of Hospitals, had visited the hospital and discussed the question of the children’s ward 1 . He agreed to a ward of eight to ten beds and promised to send the department's architect to arrange a site and to give plans so that the board could get an estimate for the work. The plans were expected shortly, as the architect had paid the visit as promised. Messrs Belton and Scown were appointed visiting .committee for the coming month. It was decided that the board join the Taranaki Trade Association with a view to getting .assistance in collection of debts.
