THEFT AND FRAUD.
VICTIMISATION AT KAFONGA. • EX-EMPLO YEES FOR SENTENCE'. The hearing by the Supreme Court at New Plymoutn of the series of •charges against three former employee® of Newton King Ltd. at Kaponga, Harley Hector Henderson (ex-mana-ger), James Harold Adam (ex-account-ant), and Morgan Whitaker Priest (exstock agent), of theft and fraud was taken yesterday. To the 44 ciiarge-s brought againsit him, involving a- total amount of something over bloOO, Henderson ptoaded •guilty, and was remanded .for sentence till next Saturday morning. Adam also pleaded guilty to the 18 charges, involving a sum of approximately £660, preferred against him, and was similarly remanded for isientenoe. Thirteen charges, involving a sum; of £9B 14s, were laid, against Priest, who pleaded not guilty. The Crown decided not to call evidence on the first six charges, on which accused was accordingly acquitted. Of the remaining seven charges, which centred round three amounts totalling £64 Is 6d, the jury, after an hour’s retirement, found him ' guilt v on the two major counts of theft of £4O and £2O, and not gndty on the other counts. Accused was renianwvl with: the others for sentence on Saturday morning. A series of charges against Henderson, Adam and Priest of alleged conspiracy in connection with their fraudulent dealing was to be called to-day.
