The friends of Mrs. It. B. Foord, of Elthain, will regret'to learn of her serious illness, which has necessitated her resigning her position as captain of the Girl Guides. Miss Baxter lias been appointed by the committee to succeed Mrs. Foord. Lieut. Barsby, of the Salvation Array Boys’ Homo staff, has received notice of her transfer. She will leave lor her new appointment on Monday next. Tiie headmaster of the Eltham school (Mr. Thomas) and his assistant (Mr. Percy) entertained the .hoys of the senior football team to afternoon tea yesterday, and congratulated them on their very good performance during the season. The members of the Rotokare Domain Board are making a visit of inspection to the lake to-day, mainly for the purpose of deciding the area to he planted with gum or other trees A grant of £IOO for this purpose was recently made by the Government.
