GENERAL COMMITTEE! MEETING

A meeting of the general committee ot the Mount Elgmont Alpine Glub was held last night. There were present Mr I/. 0.. Hooker (chair), Messrs Hod Syme, H. Murray, H. \V. Swinburn, A. Snowden, I). C. Ryan, Misses D. Hiawken and J. Page, and the secretary, Mr T. F. McKenzie. Resignations from the committee were received from Messrs J. M. Buckeridge and T. P. Hughsou. Mr V. M. Gea-rand was elected to fill the first vacancy. A report was received from the programme committee dealing with the trips for the next two months. There will be an excursion to Fantham’s Peak on August 26, but if the snow is not in a safe condition or the weather is unsatisfactory, the party will go round to •the North Bgmont Hostel. The following trip on September 16 will be to Fgmont Hostel, or ailternatively Fantam’.s Pe:ak. On October 7. there will be a beach tramp, the locality of which has not yet 'been finally decided. The question of hiring ski, which are already in the possession of the club, was considered, and it was decided to hire Norwegian ski to club members at 5s per clay, and yellow pine ski at 3s per day. A deposit of 10s is to be paid on hiring these ski, and this will be refunded on the return of the ski in good order. On club trips a charge of Is per hour to club members will be made. Ropes will be hired to members at le per day; and members are responsible for their safe return. A report was considered regarding the alpine hut on F'antham’s Peak, and it was decided that the seoetary should endeavour to get all the subscriptions in before tlie next meeting, when tihe committee Would consider undertaking the liability of the hut. The next bulletin will be issued this week.
