The hearing has begun of four charges against Jacob Johnson, a sequel to. the recent marine cooks’ strike. He is charged with hindering 'inter-State commerce and attempting to induce men to leave their employment by means of intimidation. These men were firemen who arrived siL Sydney in ft ship manned by a crew who had agreed to do without cooks. Johnson, the prosecution .alleged, became vituperative and told the men if they did' not leave the ships bags of ashes could conveniently fall from the hoists. The case lias been adjourned.
