HAWERA TRACK NOTES.
(I3y ‘‘limited.’ ’) Caretaker Morse lias been busy this veek doing up the plough tracks—No. 2 has been finished and from now on should afford a splendid exercise ground. A start on the No. 1 galloping plough was to bo made yesterday. The morning was beautifully fine but routine work was the order with most of tlie horses.
Royal Mint and Capt. Gazely went their usual six furlongs in 1.23 J, finislin n together. TYoilus did strong work over a couple of rounds of the grass while Yawl did half pace work on the plough. •Embralto and Calamine ran three furlongs together comfortably in 414. Mendip went a couple of rounds of half pace work and is evidently ready to do fast work when his trainer elects.
Cold Steel (Morrison) and Glengariff Conway), did a round of the schooling hurdles, both horses jumping satisfactorily.
Bright Glow is coming along nicely and was allowed to run along a halfmile on Tuesday morning—without being extended she ran the half-mile in fair time.
E. J. Murtagh has received an addition’ to his team in a three-year-old filly bv Quin Abbey—'belonging to Mr 3. Cocoran.
The imported thoroughbred stallion Royal Divorce has arrived in Hawera and will be at the service of breeders this season. Royal Divorce boasts a stout pedigree and has some smart performances to his credit so should not want for opportunities in, the district.
