FLOODS IN THE NORTH.
HEAVY RAIN AT AUCKLAND. EXTENSIVE SLIPS ON ROADS. (By Telegraph —Press Association.) AUCKLAND, July 30. Stormy weather prevailed over the week-end warn a fairly heavy rainfall, renewing the apprehension of damage by floods in the country. Landslips between Swanson and Reweti blocked trains on the Kaipara line on Sunday while the Main North Road- is flooded at Kumeu and Waimauku. There is extensive slips on the Taupabi Road, on the Waitakere tunnel bill, but it is hoped to have all obstructions removed to-day. The rainfall yesterday checked the fall of the Waikato River at Mercer, where it is still six feet to seven feet above normal level, with a little water above the railway tracks.
