MANUFACTURE OF CABLE
A COMMITTEE’S REVELATIONS (Australian Press Association —United Service.) LONDON, July 28. A select committee on the Estimates reports that, excepting two firms, the manufacture of cable is in the hands of a ring trorn width the Post Office buys fI.OCOJfUO annually at a higher price than the ring quotes to the colonial and Irish Free State Governments. The committee is of opinion that the Post Office ought to have a free hand to accept foreign tenders if the British are excessive.
