A large crowd' was present on Thursday at a kitchen tea held in the local l ball for Miss Ivy Matthews, who is ! shortly to be married to Mr. Bert ! lce.sby, o; New Plymouth. Tuc euchre parties continue to be wel patronised, especially isiuce a first and second prize is provided for both ladies and 'men. Prizes at last euchre party were won by Mrs. Iloskin and Mrs. Mc-Asay, and by .Mr. baiter and Mr. Lob Hooper. As tin* tanners,are getting busy there will be only one more euchre party this season, when a keen tussle is anticipated, several of the players being within reaching distance lor the points prizes. GENERAL. With tlie mild weather conditions which lia\e prevailed right through the winter we are commencing the new milking season with* the- stock in great heart and plenty of feed available, while the high prices ruling lor cheese forecast a \er< satisfactory year. The factory is still running every other day, but will shortly be receiving milk daily, as the cows are coming in fast and have plenty of feed. PERSONAL. Mr. H. Barrett/the local stationmaster, is absent on his annual holidays. Mr H. Hooper has returned from Ashburton, after attending the funeral of bis brother. Miss V. Tliomp.son is tlie guest of M’s. \V. Grierson, and will be returning to tlie river city in a- few days.
