GOVERNMENT TO OWN “A” CLASS STATIONS. SYDNEY, July 26. The new .broadcasting policy contemplates that the Government shalfr be the owner of the plant and equipment of all “A” class (license-supported) stations and relay stations. The organisation or company entrusted with the task of .providing entertainment programmes .throughout Australia, will receive a .percentage of listeners’ license fees, while the actual mechanical Work of bii’oa.doaisting will be carried out by organisations under contract with, the Government. The probable cost to the Government of taking; over the broadcasting stations will be in the neighbourhood of U9O,fKK). The “B” class stations will continue to receive no Government assistance and no share of the listeners’ fees. They had anticipated a. change in this repcct.
