Copyright.) (Australian Press Association.) Received 10 a.m. to-day. PARIS, July 27. In the first match for the Davis Cup, Tilden .defeated Lacoste, I—6.1 —6. 6—4, 6—2, 2—6, 6—3. Tilden in the first game was unsteady, not judging net approaches, as well as being the victim of clever passings, hut in the second -and third sets he better sized up Lacoste’s tactics, outvolleyed him, brilliantly, and severely dealt with lobs. He eased in the fourth, but- ..fought tigerishly in the final.
