STEAMER STRIKES ICEBERG

NOT IN ANY DANGER

The steamer Monte Cervantes, with 1500 Germans aboard, struck an iceberg. She sent out an SOS which the Russian ice-breaker Kress in picked up.

The Krassin sent a diver to inspect the damage, and found that the Monte Cervantes was not in danger. It is expected the Krassin will stand by for a couple of days. A Mpscow message received later states that while the Krassin was heading for St. Avnnger. Norway, she received the SOS from the Monte Cervantes. The- Krassin nroeeeded in the direction indicated. The Belsund gave assistance, but whether the vessel was in danger or not was not stated.
