At the Air 'Ministry's request Sir Alan Cobham is preparing an estimate (»• the cost of running an air service to Kenya, and of an extension later to Jmluwayo, where it will: link up with the service from the Cape. The East African dependencies, with the concurrence of the Colonial Office, are prepared to support the projects if the British Government offer a subsidy in the early stages of operation. The present project proposes a weekly service by three-engined flying boats for passengers, mails, and goods. LONDON, July 26. The report of the cable-wireless conference has been tabled in the House of Commons, and will lie issued almost immediately. It will lie debated on August 2 on tlie second reading of the Appropriation Bill. Parliament is to be prorogued on the following way. VANCOUVER, July 25.
John Bayley won the annual Burrand Inlet swim of approximately two miles. There were 80 competitors-, including the leading swimmers from the foremost American clubs. Richard FT. Le Page, Melbourne Swimming Club, failed to start, and Charles 1 Penned, Christchurch. New Zealand, failed to finish.
* CAIRO. July 25. The Minister of the Interior has notified Nairas Pasha, the late Premier, that he will he held personally responsible for disturbances arising out of any of his party’s meetings. Demonstrations are certain, and the Wafd meetings have consequently been postponed.
