LADIES’ HOCKEY.

RAMBLERS (3) v. HIGH SCHOOL B (2).

The match Ramblers v. High School B was played on No. 2 ground at King Edward Park yesterday, -and proved a keen, interesting game, both sides being unlucky in not scoring more goals. From the commencement both teams strove hard for the ascendancy. Ramblers soon gained the upper hand, and after about a quarter of an hour’s play Miss Rowe registered a goal. Soon afterwards School took the ball downfield, and Aliss Guy scored. Both teams strove hard.to- gain the advantage, and just on the call of time Aliss Burn registered a goal for Ramblers. The spell ended 2 to 1 in Ramblers’ favour.

From tli© start of tli© .second spell Ramblers gained the ascendancy, but the school backs, who were now playing with plenty of dash, drove them back, and school took <a hand in attacking, but with good defensive work by th© Ramblers’ backs, and also through poor shooting, were unable to score. With a solo elfort Miss WoolJiams took the ball down the field and scored with a nice shot. School were not to b© denied, and strove hard to score, and after some nice work by their forwards Miss Gower found the net School were now doing their best to increase their score, but Ramblers’ defence stood the strain, and time was called with play in midfield. For the. winners all played well, and the school team showed a vast improvement on their previous games. Mr. E. Fryer controlled the game.
