An important bankruptcy case was before Air. Justice Blair at the Supreme Court at Hamilton to-day, when George Cornfoot, who till recently was part owner of a large run in Hawke’s Bay, applied for his discharge from bankruptcy. His liabilities were £28,093, "and hi-s assets small. The Official Assignee (Mr. J. H. Robertson) opposed the discharge. He said he had just received a. telegram from one Gaul ter, a sheepfanner in Blenheim, a creditor for over £BOOO, stating that Mr. Gaul ter had received no notification in this connection. His Honour asked bankrupt’s counsel what was the reason for the hurry. Cornfoot had been adjudicated a bankrupt only six weeks ago. Counsel said there were private reasons for the haste.
