STAKES REDUCED.

AUCKLAND RACING CLUB’S ACTION. (Bv Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND. July 24. The Auckland Racing Club decided to-day to reduce the stakes for the coming season to £61,000, a. reduction of £2OOO. The Auckland Cup remains at £3OOO and the Great Northern 'teeplehase at £2OOO. The Mitchels'on •Cup has been reduced from £2OOO to £ISOO, the King Edward Memorial Hnndicaio from £IOOO to. £BOO, the Kinc’si' Plate from £6OO to £SOO, the Summer Cun’from £I4OO to £1250. the A.R.C. Handicap from £2OOO to £1750, the Easter Handicap from £1750 to 01500, the Great Northern Hurdles from £2OOO to £1750, the Winter Steeples from £1250 to £IOOO, and the Hula. Handicap from £9OO to £850.. The club decided' to reverb to eight races a day at the spring meeting, a hack hurdle, race and a hack flat race (a. mile and a- quarter), each of £4OO, being included. The programme tor the autumn meeting provides for eight races a day, the Eden Handicap (one mile) and the St. Helier’s Hurdles, each of £4OO. being new events. Future classic races for which moimltnoliens will .be taken next June, aim reduced altogether by £2OOO. The Foal Stakes has been reduced from £ISOO to £1250. the Ohamnagne Stakes from. £lsoo* to £IOOO, the Guineas from £ISOO to £IOOO, the. Derby from £3OOO to £2500 the St. Leger from £IOOO to £7.50. The Onehunga Steeplechase, .run ait the spring meeting, has been altered to cair/rv back conditions and the stake Iras b??n reduced to £4OO.
