REDUCTION IN BETTING TAN. NEW CLAUSE TO' MEASURE. (British Official Wireless.) Received 2.10 p.m. to-day. RIUGBY, July 23. Oh the -report stage of the Finance Bill, the Rt. Hon. Winston Churchill. Ohanoe-riar of the Exchequer, moved a new eil-awsse, the effect of which tvas to reduce the betting tax ais from October 1 next for credit betting from three ami a half per cent, to tAvo per cent., and for course betting from two pet cent, to one- per cent. If a practical scheme of grading licenses Avere to- bo devised, that scheme should supefse.de eitheir i.n whole or in part the- reduced percentages. The rate o-f duty upon the totaiis-ator had not been settled at the present moment. As soon as the new body Avas constituted t-be Government would begin an examination with-them and see AAihat Avals fair proportion which t-liey might property take. The new clause was read a second time- by 190 to it and was added to the Bill.
