LIBRARY BUCfIMXtH AND DANCE. The* Library committee hold their itsuaL monthly euchre party and dance in the local! hall on Friday, July 13, and were rewarded with the usual good crowd ol‘ enthusiasts. Prizes for the evening's euchre were won by : Airs C. \\ ileox and Mr L. Duggan (first/, -Mi s T. Brennan and Mr T. Wipiki (consolation). A dainty supper was served by the ladies’ committee. The two recent recruits to the ranks of St. Benedict, Messrs G. Hall and T. Cherry, with their respective brides, received a boisterous welcome from the local residents on arrival by train at the Tangarakau station, op Tuesday, July 17. Air and Mrs G. Hall lyere the guests of the teachers and pupils of the local sciiool ou Thursday afternoon. The headmaster, M r L. M. Fail brother, made a happy ispeecli, congratulating the guests and wishing them every happiness and prosperity in tlieir future life, and presented Mr and Mrs Hall with a handsome floor rug as a wedding gift from* the teachers and pupils. Mr Hail! suitably replied. Upon ord£r of dismissal * the pupils advanced eu masse and bombarded the guests with showers of confetti, they wisely seeking shelter beneath the newly acquired mg.

Their numerous friends extended a hearty welcome to Air and Mrs T. Cherry on Tuesday, July 17, at the residence of Air J. Cherry. A very happy evening wia« spent, and an excellent programme was rendered, including songs, 'recitations, monologues, and instrumental items. During the evening the usual toast to the newlymarried couple was honoured, accompanied by the singing of .“For They ui'e Jolly Good Fellows.'’ Air T. Cherry suitably replied. Prior to the termination of the evening Air \Y. Coomb-ridge made a neat speech expressing thanks to flic able amnnpninist, Air G. L. Davison. ■Aliss A. Hanson is spending an extended holiday in Tangarakau. Aliis* H. IT. Schwietters left on Tuesday on a visit to* her mother in New Plymouth. i
