Hastings won 'their 'game, and Pet one were the winners in the Wellington province, iso that tfhe latter were due to meet Hastings in Hastings next iS'a'tuvday. The New Zealand Footbn 11 Association informed the Hawke’s Bay Football Association las't week that the-match was definitely arranged for Hastings, but on Friday they wired to Wellington to play or forfeit 'the match. The mailer was discussed at a meet- j ing of The Hawke’s Bay Association on Saturday evening, when it. was decided to wire ’the following protofs.t to the New Zealand Association: “That, this meeting of delegates of 'the Hawke’s Bay Football; Association enters an emphatic protest against the action of the New Zealand Football Council in demanding that, unless , the Hastings United team travel to Wellington to meet Pet one, on the 28 th dnst., in the Chatham Cup tie, in spite of having dra.wju.thc in at eh to !bc played in .Hastings, they will forfeit the game; and, further, that; it i 3 considered that this form, of parochialism has deprived the Hawke’s Bay Assoeiation of a splendid chance of furthering the game in the
province. Wo respectfully ask for an explanation as to why the draw Iras been altered, in ’onr opinion, most wrongfully, to suit, Wellington.” It. was also decided to write 1o nil associations, enclosing a copv of the protest, and asking for support. -
