ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL.
A MANAWATU COMPLAINT. ALLEGED DILATORINESS OF N.Z. COUNCIL. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., July 18. At a meeting of the Manawatu Football Association a letter was received from St. Andrew’s Club, Matiawatu’s contenders for the Chatham Cup, drawing attention to the alleged dii.latormess on the part of the New Zealand Caunoi 1 ’ in notifying tlie Hawke’s Bay Association of the date of the Chatham Cup tie between the writers and Hastings TTnited. Tlie Hawke’s Bay Association had only been notified on July 5 that the game would- be played on the 14th. and had very little; time. in which, to mal>e arrangements. _ . It was also alleged that the tie could have been quite easily arranged on the 7th. when the Hawke’s Bay Rugby Union would have been _ wilding to lend their ground, thus showing the indifference of the parent body to the minor associations. “The time is coming,” the letter added,” and it will not lie too soon, when the minor associations will he compelled to form an association, to protect themselves. The parent association, when that comes to pass, will awaken to the fact- that there are chibs and: associations outside the four big esntres who have to be' considered; (soon and not at some future time.’’ After a Brief discussion, it was decided to forward the letter to the New Zealand Council.
