The Upper House of the Convocation of Canterbury, by 18 votes to three, on the motion of the Bishop of Gloucester, agreed that a. committee of bishops be appointed, to diraft a. statement on the teaching of tlie Church, of England upon the doctrine of the Eucharist. The Bishop of Oxford seconded the motion. The Bishop of Norwich opposed the measure, urging, that it was unwise, at a time of bitter controversy, to start discussions on holy mysteries'.
