LIEUT. ULM’S riIEDICTION
The Sydney correspondent of Lite •‘New Zealand Herald” says, that Flight-Lieut. Uhn. Captain KingisfcorclSinjitlrs comrade and righthand anan, has visions of a fleet- of aircraft in the neat future between Australia, and New Zealand-. He says that ho i-si convinced :h Sydney-Auckland air service withthree, four and five-eogiripd flying-boats or a-mphibha-ns, of a carrying capacity of about two tons each, conveying passengers, ferightis and mails, is a- practicable commercial proposition. FlightLieutenant XJ-hn says that with. the light- type of machine them is no question of the practicability of a regular air service between Australia and New Zealand, taking about 16 to 18 hours as against four and'five days occupied’by wtea liners. Ho adclpd : “We propose to do outr New Zealand flight and will then bo in a position to discuss mdirei fully tbo commercial service as -being an eminently practicable proposition. XVo have not vet fixpd the' date of our flight, which will he purely an experimental one. It wi.Vl not, in any way be a publicity or merely spectacular stunt; Kingsford Smith and I believe that the flight to New Zealand will bn- a, further demons t rati on to tile two countries and to the public that properly organ,listed flying is as safe- as, and more, speedy than ordinary trailsport. t
