IN FOREIGN AFFAIRS.
A PEACEFUL UNDERSTANDING. EVACUATION OF OCCUPIED AREAS (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph Copyright.) (Australian Press Association —United Service.) Received 1.10 p.m. to-day BERLIN, July 3. The Chancellor, Dr. Midler, in a statement in the Reichstag on the new Cabinet's foreign policy, declared that it was. based on a desire for a, peaceful understanding, and lie repudiated the idea, of revenge. The Government would further follow up the aim'of procuring Germany’s equality with other nations, with which she desired to cooperate honestly for political and economic consolidation of Europe. The Government was convinced that it was justified in demanding immediate evacuation of the occupied areas; if this were not accepted, the great opportunity for translating a policy of understanding into deeds would be lost. He expected the Allies to shave Germany's standpoint thereon. Only goodwill was needed to solve the problem.
