(From Our Own .Correspondent). 1 GENERAL. A spell of cold fine weather has been ushered in by the new moon. The season is remairkablp for the southerly winds that blow at tsiiort intervals. A number of residents visited the Ha went sho w during fclie week-end. All were unanimous that the educational value ol the show increased yearly. Farmers are awaiting the new season with confidence. a§ the cows aae in good condition and fodder is plentiful,. EUCHRE AND DANCE. The series, of euchre parties and dances was further extended by a. bright function that took place l on AYednesday last. Despite the inclemency of the weather, a. representative iiuniber of players and dancers assembled, and keen play i united in Airs Wrigley ®esuring the ladies prize, while the gentlemen’s prize was gained by • Mr ’ R . Schwass. Before the dancing, commenced a dainty supper wa.s banded round. Air J. Couch canrietl out the duties of AI.C. The Mascot Orchestra dispensed excellent music. CONCERT. A concert in aid of church funds is being organised by local talent. As several bright entertainments have been held by the local amateur, s in the past, patrons are assured of an enjoyable evening. The concert will take' place in about three weeks’ time. PERSONAL. Mir and Airs Schwaiss, sent-., have re-] turned from a motor trip spent at Alarton and surrounding districts. Air P. Goile and Alaster Cl Goile recently paid a visit to the Alokau. Air J. Spice and family have left here to live at Pungareliu. i All* Hogg, chief agricultural instructor. visited the school on Thursday. Air F. Parker has moved to Air Taylor’s farm. Air G. Flnrclenburg lias taken up clerical work in Hawera.
