CHRISTCHURCH, June 25. George Jonathan Pine, aged 19, died in Christchurch hospital at noon to-day as the result of terrible injuries received i n a collision between the motor cycle rie was riding and a motor truck on the Riccartoii Road this morning. Pine was riding on a piece of road 'bitumen paved apd facing the rays of the morning sun. As ho was passing Air AV. J. Bowman’s yard a motor truck, driven by R. Giles, came out on to the road. The motor cydle hit the truck with a terrific crash. The motor cycle petrol tank burst, and the petrol fired, enveloping Pine, his motor cycle and the bonnet ol the truck in flames. Pine was dragged from the iburning truck with his clothing afire and terribly burned. He was rushed to hospital (but he lived only a few hours. A chemical extinguisher was effective in saving the truck from complete destruction. Pine was a «oh of the well known horse trainer, George J. Pine, and a nephew of Air AV. Pine, Hawera.
