(From a Correspondent). A very large and representative gathering or residents' visited the home ol All and ALrs F. Newport on Friday night to bid farewell to them and their I'amiiy on the eve of their departure to the Kaponga district. The evening was spent with games dancing and musical items the music for the dances u&ing supplied by Mrs C. Sole. After supper, supplied by the ladies, Mr J. Smillie, on behalf of the many friends and 'neighbours, spoke in glowing terms of the departing guests, and wishing them the best of luck in them new home on the Palmer Hoad. Airs Newport . was presented with an after - aconn tea iservrce. while Mr Newport was the recipient of a smoker’s outfit Mr Newport responded on behalf of his wife and family, and thanked all most heartily for tlieLr presents and the kind words spoken. Before dispersing all joined in singing “Auld Lang Svne.”
