Saturday’s Senior Matches

CLOSE GAME AT OKAIAWA KAPONGA VICTORIOUS AT MANAIA PATEA GO DOWN TO OPUNAKE

Good football was experienced for Saturday’s matches, though the grounds were on the Heavy side in some instances. In the southern division the champion team of .last year, Okaiawa, had to be content with a three point margin of victory over Hawera, their six points coming from penalty goals. As anticipated Opunakc had no difficulty in defeating Patea on their own ground. The result of the Kaponga v. Waimate game caused no surprise, the Blacks winning comfortably. In the northern division, Inglewood, second on this year’s competition list, snatched a last-minute victory from Tukapa, after being seven points down.. Star accounted for Eltham without difficulty, and Stratford over-ran Okato. Tho positions of the teams are as follows:
