CHORAL CONCERT.
BY WANGANUI SOCIETY. TO-MORROW’ AT OPERA HOUSE. In connection with the concert to be criven in the Opera House to-morrow nio-ht, it is interesting to read the reports of the concert given by the above society at Wanganui on June U. The “Wanganui Chronicle” says: “In Mr. Slater the society has a qualified and capable leader, who knows how to extract the very best from every member of the choir, which he converts into a beautifully harmonious instrument. The splendid exhibition last night showed what Mr. Slater has achieved. He has the choir Tinder perfeet control, and he instils- into interpretations, leaving a feeling ot ■wonder fit whfit the hum fin voice ts capable of producing.” Then the article in the ‘W anganiii Herald” reads.: “The concert was full of merit, and testified once more, to Mr. Slater’s ability to train choirs. The singing, much of which was* unaccompanied 1 , was notable for fine shading and beautiful blending of parts. Mr. Slater lias his choir under perfect control, and an artistic rendering w r as given in each item, the soft passages being particularly fine.” Patrons of the forthcoming concert are assured of a musical treat. The programme irrovided should satisfy all tastes. The choir will journey by special train, and is due to reach Hawora about 7.40 p.m. on Tuesday. As the Opera House will he crowded, those who do not intend booking seats are well advised- to arrive early.
