FIREMEN OVERCOME
AFFECTED BY DEADLY FUAIF.S. (By Telegraph —Press Association ) WELLINGTON, June 20. Deadly fumes were generated by a fire which was discovered in the printino' room of the Famous Laskey Film Service (N.Z.), Ltd., this morning. When six firemen entered the room they were overcome and all had to be carried out to the street. Deputysuperintendent Clarke and fireman I’hiips were badly affected and were admitted to hospital. Station officer Ledbrook and firemen Wright, Bennett, and Everett were taken back to the central station, where ‘they later recovered. A second detachment of the brigade suppressed the outbreak with chemicals. It originated in a heap of waste paper and spread to a. table laden with advertising matter, slides, and gummed labels, the smoke from which damaged the fittings and goods. The- room was charged with carbon-monoxide gas.
