INITIAL STEPS. TO' BE TAKEN

The.' annual meeting of the Dairy Factory Managers' Association Carried a proposal; that the Factory Managers’ Association' take necessary steps to lay the foundation for the federation of dairy factory managers embracing the whole of the Dominion; that a special committee be set up to confer with a similar committee appointed by the Otago and Southland Dairy Factory Managers’ Union, the committees to meet at Wellington during the last week in July. A report is to be submitted to the next annual meeting of the association, with recommendations for a suitable constitution, such committee to be instructed not to enter into any arrangement that may involve the -federated body .in the Arbitration Court or harass the provincial executives as at present constituted. ' Officers elected were : President, Mr Pergusson (Oroua. Downs); provincial presidents, Messrs Petersen (Auckland), Young (Taranaki), T|fcmlberg (Manawatu), Dela'hunty (Hawke’s Bay), Foss (Bush Districts), Crashie (Wairarapa), Middleton (South Island); secretary, Mr Noilse-n (Pihama).

Remits were carried that the activities of the special testing officer be extended whereby .samples of milk may be analysed for added winter; that the .dairy division be asked to consider the advisability of making grading milk for cheesemaking compulsory, with differential 1 payments.
