ENTERTAINMENTS.

OPERA HOUSE. GOAIAIENOING TO-NIGHT “MOTHER AIACHR.ee.” “Alother Alachree," a Fox Films production suggested by the worldtamous song fo the same name, will commence a three-night season at the Opera House to-night. The story, which is laid against the background of rural Ireland and New York, concerns the efforts of a young widow to bring up her son in the face of poverty. Travelling to America she finds that in order to give him a good education it has become necessary to renounce him and permit liis adoption by a wealthy New York family. This she does, and the boy grows to manhood believing" his mother dead. A dramatic and poignant climax is reached when mother and son come face to face years later, when the son is a member of New York’s highest society, and the mother is working as a servant. A remarkable cast has been assembled for “Mother Alachree.” In the chief role is Belle Bennett, who achieved signal success in a similar part in “Stella Dallas.” The son as a child is portrayed by Phillip© de Lacey, and as a man toy Neil Hamilton, one of the screen’s most popular leading men. The other players include Victor AlcLaglen, the Captain Flagg of “What Trice Glory,” Ted AlcNamara, Eulalie Jensen, Ethel Clayton, and Constance Howard. A feature of the production is said to be the beauty of the Irish scenery. The mountains and lakes of some of the best known beauty spots are claimed to be reproduced with rare beauty and charm. Prior to the screening, Aliss Mary Barnes will sing “Mother Alachree." Included in the supporting picture programme are a comedy, the Strand Alagazine, an Aesop Fable, and a Fox variety film. The box plan is rapidly filling at Aliss Blake’s sweet shop.

GRAND THEATRE, TO-NIGHT. FLORENCE VIDOR IN •‘ONE WOAIAN TO ANOTHER.” Florence Vidor as a comedienne. Such is the role she typifies in “One Woman to Another,” her latest starring vehicle for Paramount, which will be shown at the Grand Theatre tonight. For many years, Aliss Vidor has been going in for heavy drama, although at * times the action has swerved off toward sophisticated farce. Never before, however, has Paramount given her an opportunity to display her ability as a mistress of out-and-out fun. "“One Woman to Another” gives her that chance. The story is a light, frothy affair, which almost becomes roaring farce. Its plot is entwined with complications galore, those situations giving rise to many a chuckle. Frank Tuttle, responsible for a number of screen successes under the Paramount banner, directed “One Woman to Another." The supporting programme will include Paramount News, cartoon, and Christie comedy.
